About Angela Bianchi

I still remember my first published article. It appeared in a Toronto daily and dealt with Canadian customs officials and confiscated goods. Unfortunately for me, the editor misspelled my surname in the byline, which flattened my ego, briefly. That was 1982. Since then, I've had more than 200 articles published in various publications in Canada, and I've also had the opportunity to report for radio and television.

In 1985, I worked in Rome reporting for various news outlets covering stories such as the Vatican Synod, the introduction of McDonald's in Rome, Italian prostitution, the hijacking of the Achille Lauro, the grenade attack on the Café de Paris in Rome, the terrorist attack at Fiumicino airport, Romans' backlash against the city's gypsy population, and the battle of Neapolitan mothers against heroin dealers.

I'm also a published travel writer having written on numerous destinations including pre-glasnost Moscow, Estonia, Finland, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Jamaica, Bahamas, Costa Rica, St. Lucia, Cuba, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and France.

In my early 30s, I took a run at political office in pre-amalgamated Toronto, hoping to win a council seat, but I lost the race by 100 votes.

I've also worked as a media relations consultant for various not-for-profit organizations such as Save the Children Canada, the Arthritis Society, ParticipACTION, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the Association of Ontario Health Centres, St. Joseph's Health Centre, Trillium Health Centre, York University, the Ontario Ministry of Energy, the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism.
